Common questions
What does Cure do?
Cure is a home food-dehydrating companion for fruit, vegetables, and herbs. Pick a food and it shows the drying temperature, time, pretreatment, and yield ("how many jars from this haul?"), then carries you through the doneness test, the conditioning step, and safe storage. Every number is cited to the National Center for Home Food Preservation (NCHFP / So Easy to Preserve) and Colorado State's PreserveSmart program.
How does the 24-hour free trial work?
The 24-hour clock starts the first time you open the app. Until it runs out, every feature is unlocked. When the trial ends you'll see the Cure Pro paywall and can unlock everything for good with a one-time purchase. The per-food drying calculator and the doneness test stay free regardless.
What's free, and what's in Cure Pro?
Free forever: the per-food drying card (temperature, time, pretreatment, yield) and the doneness test. Cure Pro adds the conditioning tracker, the storage and use-by planner, and the full food library.
I already bought Cure Pro on another device. How do I restore?
On the new device, open Settings → Restore Purchases (or tap "Restore Purchases" on the paywall). Your unlock is restored from the App Store account that originally purchased.
What is conditioning, and why does it matter?
After drying, you seal the food loosely in jars and let it sit for 4–10 days, stirring daily, so any residual moisture equalizes between pieces. If moisture beads up inside the jar, the food wasn't dry enough and goes back in the dehydrator. Conditioning is the step most home dehydrators skip, and skipping it is a leading cause of mold in storage. Cure's conditioning tracker runs the day counter and an optional daily stir reminder for you.
Does Cure cover meat or jerky?
No. Cure is for fruit, vegetables, and herbs. For drying meat and jerky safely, see our companion app Strip, which is built around the USDA kill step.
Should I trust this app instead of a food-safety authority?
Cure presents NCHFP and university extension guidance as an aid, not a substitute for it. It cannot see your actual food or measure its moisture, so it can't certify a specific batch safe. For authoritative rules, see the National Center for Home Food Preservation. When in doubt, throw it out.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Cure never makes general network requests; the only exception is Apple's StoreKit for the Pro price and restoring purchases. All calculations are local.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app from your iPhone or iPad. All local data is removed along with it.
Food-safety reminder
Dried food keeps only when it is actually dry and properly stored. Use the doneness test, condition before storing, keep dried food in an airtight container, and label it with the date. Cure provides NCHFP-cited guidance for educational purposes; it is not a substitute for a thermometer, your local extension office, or professional food-safety advice.
