What's free, and what does Garage Unlock add?

One vehicle plus all core logging is free permanently: fuel fill-ups with real fuel-economy tracking, service/repair/mod history, and the standard editable maintenance reminders. Garage Unlock ($6.99, one-time) adds multiple vehicles, PDF/CSV resale-history export, and custom reminders. There's a 48-hour free trial of the unlocked features.

How does the fuel economy work?

Log each fill-up with the odometer reading and the amount of fuel. When you record a full tank, Garage computes economy from the distance since your previous full tank (miles per gallon, or L/100 km, matching your units). Partial fills are stored but not used for the per-tank figure.

Where do the maintenance intervals come from?

Garage ships sensible, editable default intervals (oil, tire rotation, brakes, fluids, timing belt, and more) drawn from typical industry service intervals, with normal and severe presets. These are general defaults, not your manufacturer's exact factory schedule — always confirm against your owner's manual and edit them to match. Reminders fire by mileage or time, whichever comes first.

How does adding a car by VIN work?

Optional. Type your VIN and tap Decode VIN; the app looks it up against the U.S. NHTSA's free public vPIC service and fills in the make, model, and year. It needs a connection only for that lookup, and only the VIN is sent. You can always enter your vehicle by hand instead — the app works fully offline.

What's in the resale export?

Garage Unlock lets you export a clean, per-vehicle service history as a PDF or CSV — the complete record a private buyer (or you, at sale time) actually wants. Find it on a vehicle's screen via the share button.

I bought Garage Unlock on another device. How do I restore?

Open Settings → Restore Purchase. Your unlock will be restored from the App Store account that originally purchased.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. All logging, calculations, reminders, and exports are local. The only network calls are the optional NHTSA VIN lookup and Apple's StoreKit (for the unlock price and restoring purchases).

Is Garage a substitute for professional advice?

No. Garage is a record-keeping and reference tool. It does not provide mechanical or safety advice, and its default intervals are not a substitute for your owner's manual or a qualified mechanic.

How do I delete my data?

Delete the app from your iPhone or iPad. All local data (vehicles, fuel, service history, photos, notes) is removed along with it.
