Groove: Turntable Setup Calculator
Set up your turntable the right way — alignment, resonance, and loading, every number traced to its source.
What it does
Enter your tonearm's effective length and Groove gives you the exact overhang, offset angle, and null points for your chosen geometry — Baerwald (Löfgren A), Löfgren B, or Stevenson, against IEC or DIN groove radii, using the classic Löfgren/Baerwald two-null solution verified against published reference values. It answers vinyl's most-asked question — is my cartridge a good match for my arm? — by computing the tonearm/cartridge resonance frequency from arm effective mass plus cartridge compliance and mass, and showing whether it lands in the 8–11 Hz sweet spot. For loading, it budgets moving-magnet cable and phono-stage capacitance or gives the recommended moving-coil load impedance, and saves each deck's numbers in a profile.
Every value names its authority — Löfgren and Baerwald for alignment, Hi-Fi News for the resonance window, the IEC/DIN groove standards, and Vinyl Engine and Korf Audio for the reference tables — with a Sources screen that links them, so you can verify each number yourself.
