Loam: Soil Test & Fertilizer — Privacy Policy

The short version

Loam does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Every value you enter — soil test results, beds, applications, notes — stays on your device.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party trackers. We do not collect your name, email, location, device identifiers, health data, or usage data.

What we store on your device

The app saves the beds, soil tests, applications and preferences you enter locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage (SwiftData and UserDefaults). This data:

• Stays on your iPhone or iPad
• Is never transmitted off your device
• Is included in your iCloud device backup if you have iCloud backup enabled, per Apple's standard backup behavior
• Is deleted when you delete the app

In-app purchases

Loam’s Bag rate screen is free forever. A single one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase ($6.99) unlocks the remaining screens permanently — there are no subscriptions and no recurring charges. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple's App Store; we never see your payment method, name, address, or any other purchase detail.

Network use

The app does not make any network calls. There are no servers we operate, no analytics endpoints, and no third-party SDKs that contact remote services. Your bed and soil records never leave the app.

Location and garden data

Loam never asks for your location. Bed names, areas and soil test results are text and numbers you type, and they stay in Loam, on your device.

Not an agronomic recommendation

Loam is an educational reference and a personal log. It performs arithmetic on values you enter and displays published, named-source methods (principally New Mexico State University Extension Guide H-119 for the fertilizer conversion, and University of Delaware Cooperative Extension for liming material scaling) for educational purposes only. It does not issue its own agronomic recommendations — it converts the recommendation your own soil testing laboratory already gave you, and that laboratory's recommendation takes precedence. Where a figure is an estimate rather than a conversion, the app labels it as one.
