Lumen: Red Light Calculator — Privacy Policy

The short version

Lumen does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything you enter (panel selections, sessions, target names, distances, durations, notes) stays on your device.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party trackers. We do not collect your name, email, location, device identifiers, or usage data.

What we store on your device

The app saves your panels (preset library plus any custom panels you add), targets, and sessions locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData on-device store. This data:

• Stays on your iPhone or iPad
• Is never transmitted off your device
• Is included in your iCloud device backup if you have iCloud backup enabled, per Apple's standard backup behavior
• Is deleted when you delete the app

In-app purchases

Lumen Pro is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase ($6.99) that unlocks the full feature set (multi-panel session log, cumulative-dose tracking with biphasic-window guardrails, per-target trend charts, custom panel entry). The purchase is handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit; we never see your payment method, name, address, or any other purchase detail. Your purchase history is tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any device signed into the same Apple ID via Settings → Restore Purchases.

Network use

The app does not make any network calls in normal use. The only outbound activity is StoreKit's purchase / restore flow, which Apple handles directly. The app does not contact our servers (we don't run any) and does not load any web content.

Not a medical device

Lumen is a calculator, a citation reference, and a session log. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. It cites peer-reviewed photobiomodulation literature (Huang/Hamblin 2011, PMID 22461763; Freitas/Hamblin 2016, PMID 28070154) and vendor-published irradiance specifications (Mito Red Light LightLab International Allentown reports, Joovv vendor pages, GembaRed vendor pages) as a reference for users who already own consumer red light panels. Treatment decisions are the user's responsibility.

Children

Lumen is a utility for adults who own consumer red light therapy panels. We do not knowingly collect any data from any user, including users under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the new version will replace this page and the "Effective" date above will update.
