Common questions
How does the 24-hour free trial work?
The 24-hour clock starts when you finish onboarding. Until it runs out, every feature is unlocked. When the trial ends you'll see the Strip Pro paywall and can unlock everything for good with a one-time purchase. The core kill-step safety guidance stays free regardless.
I already bought Strip Pro on another device. How do I restore?
On the new device, open Settings → Restore purchases (or tap "Restore purchases" on the paywall). Your unlock is restored from the App Store account that originally purchased.
Why does Strip insist on a heat step at the end?
USDA guidance is that drying alone does not reliably kill pathogens like Salmonella and E. coli O157:H7 — bacteria can survive the dehydrator. The recommended safe practice is to heat meat to 160°F (71°C), or 165°F (74°C) for poultry, either before or just after drying. Strip builds this kill step into every batch.
Is curing salt required?
Whole-muscle jerky can be made safe by the heat step alone, but many recipes use a small, measured amount of curing salt (sodium nitrite, e.g. Prague Powder #1) as an added safeguard, especially for ground-meat jerky. Curing salt must be measured precisely — too much is harmful. Strip calculates the correct amount for your batch weight; never eyeball it.
Should I trust this app instead of a food-safety authority?
Strip presents USDA-cited guidance as an aid, not a substitute for it. For authoritative rules, see the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service and the National Center for Home Food Preservation. When in doubt, follow the kill step and discard anything you're unsure about.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Strip never makes general network requests; the only exception is Apple's StoreKit for the Pro price and restoring purchases. All calculations are local.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app from your iPhone or iPad. All local data is removed along with it.
Food-safety reminder
Home-dried meat carries real risk if the pathogen kill step is skipped. Always heat jerky to 160°F (165°F for poultry), measure any curing salt exactly, and refrigerate or freeze cured meat as directed. Strip provides USDA-cited guidance for educational purposes; it is not a substitute for professional food-safety advice.
