Temper: Knife Heat Treat — Privacy Policy

The short version

Temper does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything you enter (saved steel profiles, heat-treat session logs, measured HRC, notes) stays on your device.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party trackers. We do not collect your name, email, location, device identifiers, or usage data.

What we store on your device

The app saves your per-steel profiles (steel name, intended use case, saved schedule, last measured HRC, your notes) and your heat-treat session log (date, steel, austenitize temperature, soak time, quench medium, cryo Y/N, temper passes, measured HRC, photo, notes) locally on your device using SwiftData. This data:

• Stays on your device only
• Is not transmitted anywhere
• Is removed if you delete the app

In-app purchases

Temper offers a one-time Temper Unlock purchase ($6.99) that adds the other 17 steel schedules, per-steel saved profile, and multi-session log. Three starter steels (1084, 80CrV2, AEB-L) are free permanently. Purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. We do not see your Apple ID, payment method, or billing information — Apple handles all of that under their own privacy policy. The app only learns whether a successful purchase is associated with the active Apple ID on this device.

What we share

Nothing. We have nothing to share because we collect nothing.

Third-party services

None. Temper does not integrate with or send data to any third-party services, including analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or AI providers.

Network access

The app does not require an internet connection to function. The only network calls it can make are to Apple's StoreKit servers (to fetch the unlock price or restore a prior purchase) and to outbound links you tap (Knife Steel Nerds article URLs, manufacturer datasheets, ASTM E140 reference) which open in Safari. No other network requests are made.

Children's privacy

Temper is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Since no personal data is collected or stored off your device, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. To remove all locally stored app data, delete the app from your device.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
